401Recordings on Compact Disc

401RecordingsLOGO390When René Seghers initiated the 401Concerts series, the idea was to produce downloadable concert recordings rather than traditional cds. In fact, the idea was to never produce cds at all, since these were as nice to look at as they were expensive to produce. They are still expensive, but 401DutchOperas changed their minds after a series of discussions with the singers in the 401Concerts series, all very committed to our cause and all asking to (also) record the repertoire under studio conditions. Eventually, Heldentenor Hendrik Vonk convinced Seghers that this was indeed the best approach for the very difficult Dutch Heldentenor-repertoire 1840-1952 , as well as for the dramatic soprano repertoire from the late romantic era and the early 20th Century.

As a result, we are now working towards our first c releases, which will include highlights from past concerts as well as future concerts and recording sessions. Also because our audience has shown an interest in real cds.
